House Mortgage Retired!

It is with much excitement and pride that I write to let you know that the Indiana Epsilon House Corporation has retired the mortgage on our chapter house at 801 Mound St. The mortgage was recently paid off several years earlier than expected in large part due to the hard work and dedication of alumni volunteers and the continued good works of the undergraduate chapter. Additionally, the House Corporation has been able to build a healthy reserve account over the last several years which predicated the decision to retire the remaining $35,134.42 in principal on the mortgage that was held by Valparaiso University.  The Indiana Epsilon House Corporation now owns the building and property in full!
 
We, the undergraduates and alumni, have been working towards this day since 1993 when the University approached the Phi Psi leadership at that time and offered to sell the property and terminate the “operating agreement” that was in place since the facility was built in 1969.  Over the next four years the House Corporation negotiated the terms of the mortgage, making certain the group’s rights to the property and building would be restored when the mortgage was retired.  The mortgage document was signed in October of 1997.  Over the next 13 years the House Corporation never missed a payment and today because of careful planning and effective budgeting we were able to retire the mortgage four years early. 
 
Thank you to all the brothers from 1953-1969 for supporting the chapter and its “new” house.  Thank you to all the brothers from 1969-2010 who have lived in this “new” house.  Thank you to all the brothers who have served on the Indiana Epsilon House Corporation Board since its inception in 1985.  Finally, thank you especially to all the alumni and undergrads who were involved in the mortgage negotiations during the mid 90’s.  Your time and effort has paid off!

Homecoming 2009
Another successful homecoming was enjoyed by over 60 alumni. The day began with a good old fashion football game between actives and young alumni. The 2nd annual Alumni reception at the house was again a fun time to catch up with other alumni. The amazing food was provided by the house cook. The night continued at Duffy's with some good stories and memories shared by all..

Family Tree Updated
The Indiana Epsilon Family Tree has been updated (10/13/2008) and now includes many attendees from Homecoming 2008..
