Encouraging Scholarship...
Since scholastic achievement should be our primary goal in attending college, Phi Psi chapters strive to achieve high scholarship by enforcing study rules and encouraging a serious attitude toward study. Realizing that no device can force one to study, however, chapters seek to stimulate, inspire, and support strong academic performance. One of the ways that we motivate our members is through chapter scholarships which reward Brothers for accomplishing various scholastic feats (e.g. Best GPA, Most Improved, etc.) The National Fraternity also rewards academic excellence with scholarships and awards.
As a Brotherhood last Fall our fraternity once again performed exceptionally well. With a Chapter G.P.A. of 3.10, we were ranked second among the nine fraternities on campus.
A little bit about our own freshmen scholarship program...
Phi Kappa Psi believes that college men should be recognized for their success and for their desire to achieve, and therefore we offer Excellence Bound Scholarships to all freshmen men at VU at the beginning of every Fall semester. We seek men who demonstrate devotion to academic achievement and a commitment to making both the university and the community better places to live. Most importantly, we seek men who desire to develop skills that will not only help them become successful in college, but will also carry over to their professional and personal lives. Awards Include:
- $1,000 Excellence Bound Scholarship
- $400 Leadership Scholarship
- $400 Community Service Scholarship
- $400 Fine Arts Scholarship
- $400 Physical Wellness Scholarship
By applying for these scholarships, you are not committing yourself to membership in Phi Kappa Psi or any other organization. Rather, you are merely affirming your desire to strive for excellence. There is no obligation to join in order to receive or apply for an Excellence Bound Scholarship.
